Frequently Asked Questions
What does somatic mean?
Somatic in the most general sense means of the body. Your mind, body, spirit, and emotions are an integral part of your well being and it is important that we invite them all to the healing process. In session we explore breath, feelings, and sensations in your body to connect you more deeply to yourself and inform how you relate to others.
What can I expect out of sessions?
We will build a therapeutic relationship that addresses your specific needs and focuses on the issues that matter most. You may want to have better communication with your partner(s), learn how to express passion, break patterns that are holding you back, or anything in between. Sessions are a place to learn, where you can safely explore and practice.
Do you work with LGBTQIA+ folks?
Yes, absolutely. The space I hold is inclusive and avoids heteronormative and cisnormative language. I welcome all genders, all orientations, and all relationship configurations.
Will we be naked and/or have sex?
All sessions are completely clothed. While touch may be included, we do not have sex at any time.
Do I come alone or with my partner?
I work with individuals on their own particular needs. As our work progresses, I would be happy to include your partner(s) on an occasional basis. If you would like to be coached as a couple I can refer you to practitioners in the area who specialize in working with couples.
What are your confidentiality and privacy policies?
All sessions are completely confidential. I take your privacy very seriously and am committed to holding a safe space for you.
What are your qualifications or certifications?
I completed the Core and Advanced Trainings with the Somatica® Institute. My undergraduate degree is in Sociology and Religion.
