Upcoming Workshops

Sunday, November 2nd in Oakland, CA

3:30-5:00 pm

Ever wonder why some sexual encounters or fantasies are so much hotter or more satisfying than others?

According to Jack Morin, Ph.D., author of "The Erotic Mind", we all have a Core Erotic Theme (CET) that is unique to our life experiences and preferences. When we can tap into the feelings and emotions that underlie our CET during sexual encounters, we have more fulfilling sex.

This workshop will outline the building blocks of Core Erotic Theme and lay the foundation for you to discover your own.

You will:
--Experience an easy somatic exercise that you can do at home to connect you more easily with your own erotic energy.
--Learn the basic building blocks of Core Erotic Theme and how to start connecting them with your personal experiences.
--Participate in a sexy guided meditation to inspire you in your process.
--Gain a framework to aid your continued exploration outside of class.

This class is for adults of any gender, sexuality, or relationship structure.

Saturday, January 26th

2:00pm - 4:30pm

Consent seems to be on everyone’s tongue with the #MeToo Movement and the continuous discourse in the public sphere. It is most often a conversation about sexual harassment and violence or within the context of romantic relationships and sexual encounters. Leaving the discussion in the realm of sexual experiences (whether negative or positive) leaves out the importance of consent in our own bodies, families, and workplaces… and the systems that created and reinforce perpetual consent violations.

Join Touk Keo (Founder of the Radical Meditation for BIPOC and Healer) and Jess DeVries (Sex and Intimacy Coach) to take a closer look at general consent including:

- What is rape culture?
- What conditions reinforce rape culture in individuals and American society as a whole?
- When/how did we lose our personal agency?
- How can we feel consent in our bodies?
- How does being in trauma response affect our ability to give informed consent?
- How does consent look different for the BIPOC community and for the white community?

This workshop will provide a framework for the cultural systems that we live in and how to connect with the knowledge of our bodies to help strengthen our personal agency.

Sunday, February 17th

1:00pm - 5:00pm

So you’ve dipped your toes in your Core Erotic Theme and are ready to go a bit deeper.

Join sex and intimacy coach Jess DeVries, along with hearth witch, sensory guide and self exploration enthusiast, CJ Mikle for a 4 hour guided experience to further immerse you in the inquiry of your desires and erotic makeup.

This workshop is for queer folks who have attended Core Erotic Theme: Discover Your Personal Erotic Makeup or who have read The Erotic Mind by Jack Morin on their own. It’s important to have a baseline of the material to be fully engaged in the process.

What to Expect:

We will gather as a group to go over the mutual agreements and share an embodied breathing exercise to ground ourselves in the space.

You will be collectively lead through 3 vignettes designed to inspire the senses each containing a written prompt to evoke deeper understanding of your personal theme. We will take a couple of minutes to settle into each vignette and then allow for 10 minutes to journal about what comes up for us each individually. After which, there will be time and space, for those who wish to share or speak to what they’ve learned about themselves.

The fourth and final vignette/prompt will be a solitary experience to allow space for finding understanding of ourselves outside the context of the group. While each participant takes their turn to write and reflect in solitude, the group will have time to decorate their journals and have further space for reflections on the theme.

The workshop will end with a closing circle.

Small journals, collage and drawing supplies, as well as, tea and light snacks provided.

Saturday, March 2nd

2:00pm - 4:30pm

We typically talk about consent as if it is accessible to everyone in the same way, without discussing the ways that institutional power structures affect a person’s ability to consent. This workshop will be focused on unpacking the differences between positionality, social locations, and intersectionality, acknowledging the power dynamics in all environments, and how consent or permission is different -and often more difficult- for those of different racial backgrounds, bodies, or abilities.

Join Touk Keo (Founder of the Radical Meditation for BIPOC and Healer) and Jess DeVries (Sex and Intimacy Coach) to take a closer look at consent and systemic power including:

Individually and collectively unpacking our positionality (the idea that personal values, views, and location in time and space influence how one understands the world) and our social location (defined by our gender, race, social class, age, ability, religion, sexual orientation, and geographic location).

Asking the questions:

-How does understanding our positionality and social location change the way we relate to friends, partners, co-workers, institutions?
-How do you feel like a person's identities impact their ability to give permission or consent?
-How does needing to create personal safety change our relationship to consent?
-If our ability to fully consent is hindered in any way because of our social location how do we honor our autonomy?

This workshop will provide space identify our positionality, while looking at how we have, or have not, been able to access consent in various spheres in our lives, and how to build agency and autonomy from where we are.
